Recognize your limitations
It's important to recognize things you are, or are not good at. I am ok at pixel art, simple things I can get away with. But I have been unable to find something good that sticks with this game. And instead of spending more time trying, it's OK to use other people's assets. This website has a huge library of assets and I found many that fit the style we are looking for.
I keep wrestling with this as I want to do everything myself, but coming to grips with my limitations is very important for not getting frustrated and sidelined during development. I need to keep reminding myself that there's a HUGE library of fantastic artists out there with assets being sold that I can use in my game that look great!
